Casino d’Arras

Arras (62)

Built in the 1920s at the initiative of a wealthy family of casino owners in the region, the Casino d’Arras was originally intended to be a performance hall, a music hall, and also, as its name suggests, a casino. However, as the authorization to open the casino was never granted, it was transformed in the 1950s into a cinema capable of accommodating up to 1,300 people. After the cinema closed in 1977, the venue became the property of the City of Arras, and its purpose became multidisciplinary, hosting classical music orchestras, popular variety concerts, theater performances, comedy shows, dance performances, and conferences.
